Forgiveness is a powerful force that can transform human life, this does not have anything to do with religion, culture, or societal difference, it is a universal law with the potential to heal the wounds that life inevitably inflicts upon us. Forgiveness is not merely an act of mercy bestowed upon others but a gift we give ourselves. I don’t know what you have been through or what others have done to you that hurt you so much but I want you to know that keeping someone in your mind will not only make you lack the necessary energy needed to pursue your dreams but it will also make your mind sick.
I am saying this from my personal experience, on December 13, 2017 my son was killed by an Arizona Serial Killer. It was a very terrible experience for me. I had surgery around this period and I was still in the process of recovery when I got the news of my son’s death. I was so devastated and traumatized, it was a very horrible experience and it took me some years to get out of it. However my freedom from all these pains didn’t manifest until I decided to forgive the person that killed my son, it wasn’t an easy thing I must be honest but I am happy I did because that became the starting point of my recovering and it also enabled me to see life in another way, most importantly it reconnected me to my purpose. Forgiveness does not only mend our emotional and mental scars but also promotes physical health and social harmony.
forgiveness is basically the act of letting go – releasing the grip of anger, resentment, and the desire for revenge. It is about disentangling ourselves from the toxic web of negative emotions that bind us to past hurts and injustices. My son was a quiet person, he didn’t get in trouble with anyone, but unfortunately he was a victim. Four days after he was killed the police arrested Cleophus Cooksey Jr., an ex-con also a serial killer, my son Latorrie, was the fifth of nine victims he killed. The pain became more serious when I discovered that the person that killed my son had been arrested and naturally you know what an average mother would wish for such a person. I was so mad at him that I didn’t want to hear his name. But because I realized that I was so restless and my health was getting bad, after I tried everything possible to calm myself but none helped. I decided to take a bold step of forgiving him and that was the key to my recovery.
I began to see a need to help others rather than taking revenge on the person that killed my son, I ensured that all my energy was channeled to positive things, I began to feed homeless children in Africa, I determined to save lives even though a life was taken from me but I know the only way I can get that life back is by helping others. I also founded my herbal company, initially named miracle cleansing herbs now Finest Herbal Shop LLC. Prior to the death of my son I have been certified as an herbal therapist, I have lot of experience in herbalism, as a matter of fact my father was a farmer and also an herbalist. he had introduced me to countless herbs and their potency when I was a child but all of these knowledge put together I never plan to use then in a massive way, of cause I do help few people that destiny sent my way to get healings with herbal remedies. After the death of my son and my decision to forgive the person that killed him, my life took another direction and today the herbal organization I founded back then is now known globally, we have several channels and thousands of followers across our social media handles.
In this sense, forgiveness is an act of self-empowerment; it places the control over our emotional landscape back in our hands. When we forgive, we refuse to be prisoners of our own pain. It’s a conscious choice to break free from the chains of suffering and open ourselves up to the possibility of renewal.
When we embrace forgiveness as a holistic healing practice, we embark on a journey towards profound self-discovery, self-improvement, and self-renewal. It’s not a single act but a transformative process that, like ripples in a pond, extends its influence far beyond its initial intention.
I don’t know what you are going through or what others have done to you that really hurt you, but I want you to embrace forgiveness. Let it go! Not for their benefit but for your personal wellness.
